  1. Police Storm cafe to end sydney hostage siege.The police ended a siege by an iranian born gunman who had held an unknown number of hostages for 17 hours. The hostage taker identified as Man Haron Monis. The gunman and two hostages were killed and four other people wounded in the police action.
     
  2. The upper house remained adjourned on the issue of religion conversion. Opposition was demanding PM's assurance on conversion.
     
  3. The uproar within and out the parliament over reports that schools may remain open on December 25 to observe the day as Good governance day forced the government to clear that school will remain closed on Christmas day.
